MENTARI's Work

Policy

By providing policy recommendations and capacity building to key stakeholders, MENTARI will improve government policies, regulations, and guidelines that bring a more conducive business environment in the low carbon energy sector.

Brokerage

MENTARI will broker investment for low carbon energy projects by bridging the gap between available funding and viable projects and supporting the development of low carbon financing mechanisms and de-risking tools.

Demonstration Project

MENTARI will deliver two small-scale, renewable energy pilot projects in Indonesia to showcase replicable, economically feasible off-grid business models. These demonstration projects will generate inclusive economic opportunities for rural communities and serve as proof of concept for the Policy and Brokerage Strands.

Collaboration & Networking

MENTARI will serve as a knowledge exchange platform for learning, collaboration, and partnerships in the low carbon energy sector within Indonesia and internationally. This programme will create business and academic partnerships, organise workshops and events, and coordinate donor activity.

Gender & Inclusion

MENTARI will increase inclusive access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy (including for women and marginalised groups) and improved livelihoods because of this access.

MENTARI is a four-year programme to develop low-carbon energy in Indonesia between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia and the British Embassy Jakarta.

A Low Carbon Energy Transition can help Indonesia achieve its inclusive economic growth, poverty reduction, electrification, and climate change goals.
