This case study is a set of stories from women-led businesses in Central Sumba. Before, during, and after commissioning the installation of two units of solar PV off-grid in Mata Redi and Mata Woga villages in 2022, MENTARI introduced productive uses of energy through entrepreneurship training and gender training to participants who are mostly women. Fifteen women share their stories in this case study, highlighting their dreams, aspirations, and challenges in seeking complementary livelihoods and entrepreneurship. It includes the conclusion that women can largely benefit from small renewable energy interventions.
