Low Carbon Energy Transition

A Blueprint for Rural Electrification Through Hybrid PV BESS in Indonesia: Insights for policymakers, engineers and developers

Universal access to electricity in developing countries is a complex issue. Effective planning requires
the combined efforts of financial, technological, regulatory, sociological, and political-economic
factors, starting with an assessment of the needs and costs associated with service delivery.

Addressing social, financial, technical, and environmental aspects of power system service delivery
is necessary. The aim is to achieve the highest possible service delivery standards for the lowest
cost and maximum benefits to community members. Renewable energy power systems have
become the apparent economic option for power supply in remote areas, bringing a significant
benefit of reduced reliance on diesel fuel and providing an alternative to grid extension.
